Alan Charlton was born in Sheffield, England, in 1948. Gray is the only color the painter uses and he presents it only in a monochromatic application. The artist's works are radical annulments of all expressive marks.
His entire system of painting and his linguistic repertoire is reduced to this choice and this single possibility.
The
painting is modulated with different tones according to few but precise rules
that the artist imposes upon himself and with which he creates a rapport with
the different phenomena of the spaces he shows in.
