Christian Frosi is the winner of the 2007 Fellowship for Young Italian Artists
Artissima 14, Conference Hall, Sunday November 11, 2007, 1:00 p.m.
Speakers: Carla Ferraris, President Supporting Friends of Castello di Rivoli, Marcella Beccaria, Curator, and Christian Frosi.

At Artissima 14, Castello di Rivoli, in collaboration with the Supporting Friends of the Museum, announces the winner of the 2007 Fellowship for Young Italian Artists. The Fellowship, established in 2001 and now awarded every 2 years, supports the winning artist −who receives 20,000 Euros−to interact with a new environment in order to develop and disseminate his/her work. To grant maximum creative freedom, candidates are solely required to present a project that calls for them to spend time in a foreign country. The goal of the sojourn abroad, for research or studio work, is the creation of new works of art. For the latest Fellowship, the artists selected by Marcella Beccaria, Curator of the Museum, are Christian Frosi, Alex Cecchetti and Alice Guareschi.
The winner of the 2007 Fellowship is Christian Frosi, with his project Waiting Yippipie. The Fellowship will be awarded by Carla Ferraris, President of the Supporting Friends of the Museum, on Sunday, November 11, in the Conference Hall at Artissima 14. Marcella Beccaria and Christian Frosi will participate.

Christian Frosi was born in Milan in 1973, where he lives and works. His group shows include in 2002 Exit/Nuove geografie della creatività italiana, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin; in 2003 the Prague Biennial; in 2005 T1 – The Pantagruel Syndrome, Turin; Dojo, Ex Faema, Milan; We disagree, Andrew Kreps Gallery, New York; Premio Furla per l'arte, Bologna; in 2007 Floating Territories, Istanbul, Athens, Venice. Recent solo shows include those at Galleria Zero…, Milan, Isabella Bortolozzi Galerie, Berlin, Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle, Munich and participation in the exhibition Ambient Tour at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin.

Previous Fellowships have been awarded to Grazia Toderi (2001), Alessandra Tesi (2002), Margherita Manzelli (2003), Lara Favaretto (2004) and Gianni Caravaggio (2005).

The Supporting Friends of Castello di Rivoli’s Fellowship for Young Italian Artists is part of a program to support young Italian art abroad. The program also includes the sponsorship of Lara Favaretto's project at the next Sydney Biennial.
