Situated
in a dominant position at the entrance of the Susa Valley, the Castle is a powerful
baroque building that is part of a grandiose project begun in 1718 by the architect
Filippo Juvarra on the request of Vittorio Amedeo II. The project was eventually
taken up by the architect Carlo Randoni at the end of the 18th century but was
left unfinished due to the Napoleonic invasion.
