SUMMARY:Open Call – Partecipate in the making of a new artwork by Cecilia Vicuña 14-28 March 2026
DESCRIPTION:Open Call – Partecipate in the making of a new artwork by Cecilia Vicuña \n14-15 March 2026 \nOn the occasion of Cecilia Vicuña’s exhibition El glaciar ido (The vanished glacier / Il ghiacciaio scomparso)\, the artist and the Education Department of Castello di Rivoli organize an Open Call to the public\, inviting also schools\, associations and families from the communities of Rivoli\, Valle di Susa\, Turin and beyond to contribute to the making of a brand- new artwork. \nIn line with her artistic practice\, which pays close attention to the places she encounters and their geological\, human\, and mythological histories\, Vicuña is developing a new exhibition project for Castello di Rivoli that directly involves local communities. The project will focus on the production of a new quipu. Quipus\, from the ancient Andean civilisations (the word means “knots” in Quechua)\, are an early form of writing consisting of knotted cords used to record information\, including historical\, narrative\, administrative\, or astronomical data. By referencing this type of artefact\, Vicuña’s contemporary quipus become immersive installations that cross both space and time. \nEveryone is welcome to contribute to the artwork by collecting small organic and plant-based materials found locally\, such as tiny fragments or naturally dried elements. These materials can come from areas around Collina Morenica in Rivoli\, including areas near lakes and rivers such as Lago di Avigliana\, Dora Riparia\, Dora Baltea\, and Po River\, or from courtyards\, gardens\, and parks. \nThe collected materials will be poetically incorporated by the artist into her new artwork\, which will be installed in the Manica Lunga of the Castello. Each donor’s name will be recorded and displayed in the exhibition\, in recognition of their participation and as a sign of gratitude. \n  \n  \nThe participatory nature of the work weaves together people and places\, while the reference to water for the artist evokes the memory of the ancient glaciers that once dominated the landscape of Valle di Susa\, where Castello di Rivoli is located\, as well as the glaciers that still exist\, albeit threatened by the current climate crisis\, in Valle d’Aosta. \nCurated by Marcella Beccaria\, the exhibition Cecilia Vicuña – El glaciar ido (The vanished glacier / Il ghiacciaio scomparso) is the artist’s first solo exhibition in an Italian museum. It will be open to the public from 29th April to 20th September 2026. \n  \nWhat can be collected\nMaterials should be small and lightweight. For this project at Castello\, the artist particularly welcomes small dried vegetation\, including branches\, twigs\, seedlings\, and small bamboo stems. Other materials may include: leaves\, flowers\, acorns\, pinecones\, moss\, seed pods\, pebbles\, small debris\, as well as industrial scraps\, plastic fragments\, wood\, metal\, broken jewelry or toys\, and natural or synthetic fibers. \n  \nTips for responsible collecting\n\nCollect only residual or fallen\nSelect materials that are no longer alive or part of a living\n\nFor example: seed pods that have fallen to the ground\, scattered twigs or branches along paths\, and so on. \n  \nCollection activities\nAs part of the Open Call\, the Education Department is organizing two nature-collection days on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March\, open to schools\, families\, associations\, and the general public. \nSaturday 14 March\nMorning: Collective walk from Castello di Rivoli to Pessina pond on Collina Morenica\, following the traces of ancient glaciers \nAfternoon: Family activities at Parco del San Grato \n  \nSunday 28 March\nMorning: Collective walk around the Great Lake of Avigliana Afternoon: Family activities at Parco del San Grato \n  \nAdditional activities for schools will take place from 9th to 13th March at Parco del San Grato and in the courtyards of local schools. \n  \nHow to Submit Materials\nOn Saturday 14th and Sunday 28th March\, it will be possible to deliver materials collected independently during the Museum’s opening hours (10AM – 6PM). \n  \nFor further information\, please contact educa@castellodirivoli.org – Tel. +39/0119565213 \n  \nSpecial thanks to Comune di Rivoli\, Comune di Avigliana\, and Ente di gestione delle aree protette delle Alpi Cozie. \nCecilia Vicuña\, Semiya / Seed Song\, 2015 – Courtesy of the artist\n© CECILIA VICUÑA\, by SIAE

SUMMARY:Paolo Spaccamonti & Ramon Moro Vampyr by Carl Theodor Dreyer
DESCRIPTION:Paolo Spaccamonti & Ramon Moro\nVampyr by Carl Theodor Dreyer (1932\, 73′) \nSaturday\, May 23\, 6:00 PM\nCastello di Rivoli Theater \nPaolo Spaccamonti: guitar\, synth\nRamon Moro: trumpet\, flugelhorn \nMusicians Paolo Spaccamonti & Ramon Moro made their debut in 2018 with the soundtrack for Vampyr\, which premiered at the Pesaro International Film Festival\, which co-produced the film-concert with the National Cinema Museum. Australian Jim White\, drummer for the Dirty Three\, participated in the Turin performance that year. The project was well received and was repeated a few months later at the Palazzo Reale in the summer\, as part of the Cinema District\, with the participation of Canadian cellist Julia Kent. \nAfter a hiatus of several years\, the duo resumed their work and brought it back on tour. A stop at Castello di Rivoli on May 23rd will present the restored version by the Cineteca di Bologna. \nFifty years after the death of the great master of Nordic cinema Carl Theodor Dreyer\, Paolo Spaccamonti and Ramon Moro transform Vampyr\, one of his most celebrated films\, into a visual and audio experience that brings to contemporary audiences all the mystery and unease of a dreamlike horror film that has influenced generations of filmmakers. Despite being Dreyer’s first sound film\, Vampyr relies very little on dialogue\, leaving room for the visionary incursions of the two musicians\, who use the images to create a counterpoint aimed at exploring and deepening its most mystical and nocturnal soul. \nVampyr – The Vampire (Vampyr – The Dream of Allan Grey) is a 1932 film directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer. Also known as The Strange Adventure of David (or Allan) Gray\, this is Dreyer’s first sound film\, although the actors make little use of spoken language. The film is part of the hypothetical trilogy that gave rise to all vampire films. Although it follows Tod Browning’s Dracula and Murnau’s Nosferatu\, Dreyer is not influenced by them but\, on the contrary\, draws on his own stylistic and content convictions that diverge from his previous works. Above all\, the source of inspiration is no longer Bram Stoker’s novel\, but rather the short stories of Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. \nPrices\nShow + museum admission + guided tour (4:00 PM)\n€6.50 per person \nA separate ticket is required for this event\, even for Museum Pass holders. \nOnline purchase is recommended\, given the theater’s limited capacity. \nTickets are also available at the box office until 5:45 pm. \nOnline purchases starting in May https://www.castellodirivoli.org/biglietti/ \n \n  \n  \nPublic Programme 2026 \nBetween spring and summer\, the Castello di Rivoli Public Program showcases music\, performances\, shared\, choreographic\, and editorial practices in relation to the Museum and its architecture. The sequence of events is conceived as a body in constant motion\, capable of traversing and activating the peripheral spaces of the Castle\, transforming them into places of research\, interaction\, and experimentation. The program explores the relationship between the body and the museum space\, inviting the public to experience the architecture in a choreographic manner. The building’s incompleteness thus becomes a resource: an open field of possibilities where movement\, listening\, and imagination continually redefine the meaning of space. A constellation of encounters rather than a succession of events\, the Public Program unfolds in an ecosystem in which artists\, cultural workers\,

SUMMARY:Lecture Performance by Huda Takriti
DESCRIPTION:Lecture Performance by Huda Takriti\n  \nCurated by Linda Fossati \nAs part of the exhibition Inserzioni \n  \n20 June 2026\, h 7–8 pm \nTheatre \n  \nHuda Takriti (Damascus\, 1990) develops a practice that intertwines archival research\, moving images\, performance\, and installation\, bringing historical materials and architectural contexts into dialogue to question the processes through which history is recorded\, written\, and erased. \nAmong the artists featured in the second edition of Inserzioni at the Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea\, Takriti has developed a project for the Museum that investigates the role of images\, cinema\, and industry in shaping postwar historical narratives. The videos Clarity is the Closest Wound to the Sun (2023) and It Is Always Midnight In Their Minds (2026)\, together with a vinyl installation extending along the walls of the Savoy residence\, reflect on the ways in which support for postcolonial liberation movements\, economic strategies\, and film production contributed to shaping the imaginary of decolonization processes. \nThe lecture performance takes shape as an extension of this research: a dispositif through which Takriti stages and navigates her materials\, articulating a narrative that combines text and images. In this live activation\, the working process composed of editing\, rereading\, and rewriting is exposed as a critical practice\, making visible the strategies through which images observe\, construct\, and transform reality.\n  \nHuda Takriti’s lecture performance is part of the programme ARCHIVIARE L’INGOVERNABILE. \nThe performance will be held in English. \nThe event is free and open to everyone; registration is required:https://www.eventbrite.it/e/1990563544145?aff=oddtdtcreator \n  \nHuda Takriti’s project is realised with the support of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Housing\, Arts\, Culture\, Media\, and Sport (BMKÖS)\, Section IV – Arts and Culture \n \nand is produced in collaboration with Phileas – The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art \n \n
