Daniel Birnbaum

T2 Torino Triennale

The book, published on the occasion of the second edition of the Triennale of Contemporary Art organized by the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art, the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation and Turin Museums Foundation, is divided into two parts. The first part consists of two exhibitions on two internationally acclaimed artists: Danish artist Olafur Eliasson and the Chinese-American Paul Chan. The second part presents the works of forty-eight artists from around the world who will exhibit works and projects in many cases new and experimental.
Daniel Birnbaum was inspired to Saturn, the star of melancholy, creating a new geography of the contemporary world, a constellation of artists who work in the sign of ambivalence.

Daniel Birnbaum, art critic and independent curator, is currently Rector of the Städelschule Portikus Gallery and Art Academy in Frankfurt and Director of the 53rd Venice Biennale, the Visual Arts section.
