Camille Henrot introduces the public to\u00a0Maison absolue<\/em> (Absolute House, 2019),\u00a0 a work conceived on the occasion of\u00a0By Artists: From the Home to the Museum, from the Museum to the Home.\u00a0Homages to the Works of the Cerruti Collection. Chapter 1.<\/em> Both a house and a \u2018piggy bank\u2019, this sculpture is inspired by Picasso\u2019s Oiseau sur une branche<\/em> (1913) from the Cerruti Collection, as well as is referred to instruments used every day to measure and monitor, as if held by a child in his piggy bank. The sculpture\u2019s shape resembles the Cubist Picasso, and the Egyptian pyramids. On the one hand, Maison absolue<\/em> is a reflection on the \u2018things of the Self\u2019 \u2013 the objects making up our personal \u2018sacred space\u2019 \u2013 and on the concept of the \u2018talisman\u2019 or \u2018contractual gift\u2019, miraculous and restorative. The house \u2013 Villa Cerruti \u2013 conceived of as a museum, hence becomes an extension of the depth of the spirit towards the totality of the universe: an \u2018absolute house\u2019 and a gift-talisman.<\/p>\n Camille Henrot explores the objects and systems of consciousness that humanity surrounds itself with by combining film, drawing and sculpture with her thorough research of different areas and disciplines, from anthropology to cinema, mythology to ordinary daily life.<\/p>\n
