Starting on 15 November, every Tuesday from 1pm to 2pm<\/strong>, the Gallerie d\u2019Italia in Turin will propose a new program of talks<\/strong> organized by Castello di Rivoli Museo d\u2019Arte Contemporanea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lunch Talks @ GDI – Torino. Parlare d’Arte. Great Artists, Great Shows, Great Topics <\/em>offer the opportunity to approach contemporary art. What is digital art? What is Arte Povera? Why is there an exhibition called documenta? What is an Olafur Eliasson \u201cmachine\u201d? Who are the protagonists of ecological thought in the artistic field? What is behind a great performance? Answering these and other questions, the Lunch Talks<\/em> are an opportunity to get to know the works of some of the most important contemporary artists, explore epochal exhibitions that have re-defined the concept of art, and explore the thematic nodes that animate the cultural debate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The talks are held by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev<\/strong>, Director of the Castello di Rivoli, Marcella Beccaria<\/strong>, Chief Curator and Curator of the Collections, and Marianna Vecellio<\/strong>, Curator, who will accompany the public on a fascinating journey into the art of our days, sharing their direct experiences and their continuous research work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the spaces of the Arena of the Gallerie d\u2019Italia in Turin, in a relaxed and informal setting, the Lunch Talks propose a new form of \u201clunch break\u201d. Participants will receive a lunch box by Costardi Bros and will be able to conclude the experience with a visit to the photographic exhibitions Lisetta Carmi. Suonare Forte<\/em> and Gregory Crewdson. Eveningside<\/em> recently inaugurated in the museum spaces in Piazza San Carlo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is curated by Castello di Rivoli Museo d\u2019Arte Contemporanea in collaboration with Gallerie d\u2019Italia – Torino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Digital art and its precursors<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lunch Talk tells the prodromes of digital art found in the first technological works of the sixties of the last century (the \u201cmedia art\u201d) up to the recent developments of immersive digital works and NFTs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marcella Beccaria, Amalfi 68. Arte povera pi\u00f9 azioni povere<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lunch Talk explores Arte povera pi\u00f9 azioni povere<\/em>, an experimental exhibition set up in Amalfi in 1968. Curated by Germano Celant, the exhibition revealed the innovative strength of Arte Povera, presenting for the first time the works, actions and performances of the artists who changed the history of contemporary art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

29 NOVEMBER 2022 (1pm – 2pm)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Marianna Vecellio, Post Human 1992. The society of simulacra in art<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lunch Talk presents one of the most important exhibitions. Curated by Jeffrey Deitch in 1992, Post Human<\/em> takes stock of the new generation of postmodern artists including Jeff Koons, Matthew Barney and Cindy Sherman who express the sense of a society in which the human is replaced in the collective imagination by consumer goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6 DECEMBER 2022 (1pm – 2 pm)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Marianna Vecellio, Ecology in contemporary art<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lunch Talk narrates the change of perspective in art dictated by the climate crisis by examining new alliances between life forms through the ecological practices of artists such as Joseph Beuys, Giuseppe Penone, Claire Pentecost, Michael Rakowitz, Rossella Biscotti and Tabita Rezaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IThe Lunch Talk explores the most fascinating themes and works of contemporary artists who have participated in one of the most successful exhibitions of our century. With nearly one million visitors in 100 days, dOCUMENTA(13) has radically changed the world of art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marcella Beccaria, The art of performance. Backstage news<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lunch Talk reveals the background of major exhibition projects at Castello di Rivoli focused on Performance Art, from the great retrospective on Vanessa Beecrof<\/em>t in 2003 to the exhibition of Anne Imhof <\/em>in 2021, the undisputed protagonist and cult figure of contemporary culture, deepening its most controversial aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, William Kentridge<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lunch Talk tells the story and secrets of the South African artist who is one of the most important in the world. Through his art, Kentridge has helped to overcome Apartheid and to change our point of view on the relationship between the north and south of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lunch Talk tells the story of one of the most original characters of our days: the Egyptian-Canadian artist of Armenian origins Anna Boghiguian, known for her numerous travels, who through expressionist drawings traces the history of humanity in globalization offering a poetic glimpse about life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lunch Talk examines the artistic path of Olafur Eliasson, one of the greatest protagonists of art today, deepening his visionary installations currently exhibited at Castello di Rivoli. Defined by him as \u201dmachines to see oneself to see\u201d, Eliasson\u2019s works can make us understand the nature and reality that surround us in unexpected ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
