The scope of this exhibition was to highlight the crucial part played by the city of Turin between 1950 and 1970 in the development of the visual arts and contemporary culture. While the core section of the exhibition was dedicated to the visual arts, other sections \u2013 curated by leading experts in their fields \u2013 looked at architecture, photography, film, theatre, music and literature. The exhibition examined the city\u2019s contribution to the international arts scene during this period, exemplified by the way it embraced major post-war art movements from New Dada and Pop Art to Minimalism, and by the activities of the Galleria Civica d\u2019Arte Moderna \u2013 the museum of contemporary art. The exhibition also underlined the city\u2019s central role in launching and\/or supporting specific artists, such as the painter Felice Casorati (a leading figure on the art scene during the 1920s and 1930s), along with entire movements such as Secondo Futurismo (Second Futurism), and the internationally recognised Arte Povera movement.<\/p>\n
