Born in St Petersburg in 1984, Alina Chaiderov soon moved with her family to Sweden, where she resides today, in Gothenburg and Stockholm.<\/p>\n

From 2005 to 2010 she attended the Stockholm University, devoting herself to the study of various disciplines such as sociology, the history of nationalism and ethnic conflicts, neuropsychology, and art history, finally graduating in fine arts from the Valand Academy, in Gothenburg, in 2015.<\/p>\n

Through an evocative and poetic language, the artist creates installations that highlight the hidden, poetic and symbolic dimension of things. Her works are simple constructs: stripped-down, clear sculptures that seem to emerge from the nebulousness of the everyday and from the world around her and to reprogramme the dimension of the present through a reading that thrives on discovery and revelation. In search of the truth, they narrate the here and now, reflecting the contradictions between ambiguity and logic, thought and paradox, process, and experience. Chaiderov\u2019s pieces are made with everyday materials such as tubular steel elements, basketballs, inner tubes, concrete bricks, magazines and newspapers, sheets and bananas. They are conceptual reflections through which the artist brings into relationship her own personal life and the great events of history, in order to create an entirely new memory.<\/p>\n

For the Castello di Rivoli, on the occasion of her first solo exhibition at an art institution, Chaiderov \u2013 winner of the illy Present Future Prize 2015, awarded during last year\u2019s edition of Artissima \u2013 has created an installation that effectively communicates and corresponds with the exhibition space: an intimate hall dominated by a large, semi-circular window overlooking the open atrium of the museum. The artist has created a completely new work for the occasion that brings together the different aspects that make up her artistic practice: the attention to space, the interest in the material and its ductility, time as a personal and metaphysical dimension and, finally, the body as a locus for the recording of experience, suffering and catharsis.<\/p>\n
