December 9 to 13, 2019<\/strong>, the CRRI Castello di Rivoli Research Institute, in collaboration with Nextatlas, holds the workshop dedicated to\u00a0Social Media for Contemporary Art Museums<\/strong>. Turin author Gianluigi Ricuperati\u00a0<\/strong>and the team at Nextatlas<\/strong>, pioneering consulting agency in deciphering web trends, will coordinate the workshop.<\/p>\n

It is aimed at people aged between 22 and 38 <\/strong>who have graduated in the Humanities and have a strong literary vocation.<\/p>\n

The workshop will take place at the Castello di Rivoli Library and will be held mainly by writers. The workshop is an experiment based on the principle of putting Italian and international poets and writers at the helm of the social media content of an art museum.One of the critical points of the presence of social media in our public and private life is the simplification and sometimes the corruption of verbal language, which more and more often sinks into clich\u00e9s or into a ‘neolanguage’ which is not able to accurately represent the contents. And yet the brevity of social messages can at first sight recall the essential nature of poetry, and the possibilities offered by the multiple codes of the interconnected digital environment can be used for a new verbal-visual creativity capable of enhancing art. In this sense, a museum of contemporary art – which has in experimentation one of its most profound strings – can indicate a possible way to a regenerated use of words.<\/p>\n

Several international and Italian prose and poetry writers, including Antonella Anedda<\/strong>, Maria Grazia Calandrone<\/strong>,\u00a0Heidi Julavits<\/strong>,\u00a0Bhanu Kapil<\/strong>, Valerio Magrelli<\/strong>, Luc Sante<\/strong>, Himali Singh Soin<\/strong>, will be invited, together with the participants, to rethink the direction to be given to the museum’s social media.<\/p>\n

To apply, please send a resume along with a brief review on an art exhibition of your choice or your own literary writing – prose or poetry – (max 2000 characters) to crri@castellodirivoli.org by November 24, 2019<\/strong>.Experiences in the field of social media, art criticism, poetry and \/ or literary prose will be positively evaluated. An excellent knowledge of Italian and English languages is required, both written and spoken.<\/p>\n

Up to 15 candidates will be selected by a commission including Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev,Luca Morena (Nextatlas), Gianluigi Ricuperati, Andrea Viliani.<\/p>\n

With Sheila Heti and Leanne Shapton, she edited the bestseller Women in Clothes<\/i>(Blue Rider, 2014). She is the author of four novels, <\/span>among which The Vanishers\u00a0<\/i>(Doubleday, 2012), winner of the PEN New England Fiction Award. Her first novel, The Mineral Palace<\/i>, was shortlisted at the Young Lions Literary Award. Kapil lives in Colorado where she teaches at Naropa University. She has published many poetry\/prose works, including The Vertical Interrogation of Strangers\u00a0<\/i>(Kelsey Street Press, 2001), Incubation: a space for monsters\u00a0<\/i>(Leon Works, 2006), humanimal\u00a0<\/i>(Kelsey Street Press, 2009), Schizophrene\u00a0<\/i>(Nightboat, 2011), and Ban en Banlieue\u00a0<\/i>(Nightboat, 2015).<\/span>

\"\"<\/a>Poet, philosopher and visual artist, Eug\u00e9nie Paultre\u00a0<\/strong>lives and works in Paris. For her, poetry and painting are a means to escape the rationality of philosophy. Her output is dominated by a vibrant abstraction, composed of vertical stripes, influenced by the works of Vincent van Gogh, Nicolas de Sta\u00ebl and Yves Klein. Through her art she seeks to grasp the spiritual, mysterious element of life. A pupil of the Lebanese artist Etel Adnan, Paultre works with small formats.\u00a0Her works are icons, in which reality is not represented but transfigured.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Writer, critic, poet, artist, in the last thirty years Luc Sante <\/b>has emerged as a beacon in the panorama of innovative English-language literature.\u00a0Born in Belgium and emigrated with his parents in the United States, he has published books and unique editorial projects, as well as having collaborated from an early age to the most prestigious literary magazine of America, The New York Review of Books<\/i>. <\/span>He has collaborated with artists such as Richard Prince and directors such as Jim Jarmusch. His books, translated into several languages, include Low Life\u00a0<\/i>(1991), which was of inspiration to Martin Scorsese and earned him a consultancy to the Gangs of New York\u00a0<\/i>script, but also The Factory of Facts\u00a0<\/i>(1998), Kill All Your Darlings\u00a0<\/i>(2007) and The Other Paris\u00a0<\/i>(2015). He teaches history of photography at Bard College.<\/span><\/p>\n

Himali Singh Soin\u00a0<\/span><\/b>is a multidisciplinary artist and poet who lives between London and Delhi. In 2019 she won the Frieze Artist Award and, in the same year, she participated in The Deep Listener<\/i>, at the Serpentine Gallery, London. She describes herself on the first page of her website as follows: “She uses metaphors from outer space and the natural environment to build imaginary cosmologies of interference, entanglement, deep emptiness, debris, delay, alienation, distance and intimacy.” Her works have been exhibited at the Kadist Art Foundation in San Francisco and at Pi Artworks in London.<\/span><\/p>\n
