21st edition of Giornata del Contemporaneo promoted by AMACI

Saturday, 4th October 2025 marks the 21st edition of Giornata del Contemporaneo, the large annual event promoted by AMACI with the support of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

 

The Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art is participating in the Twenty-First Day of Contemporary Art, a major event promoted by AMACI – Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, with the support of the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture and in collaboration with the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

On Saturday, October 4th, the Castle is organizing a special opening for the occasion, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The public will be able to visit the Museum, the Collection, and the current exhibitions free of charge, as well as participate in the numerous initiatives celebrating this Day dedicated to contemporary culture.

 

6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Special opening of the Castello building – Pianos I, II, and III – as part of the collaboration with C2C Festival.

11:00 AM Giovani Visioni,con lo sguardo dei ragazzie– Castello Theater

Giovani Visioni  is a special opportunity to see the Museum and its works through the eyes of young people. On the occasion of Amaci Day, the Education Department has invited participants to present the results, videos, and podcasts, of workshops held in collaboration with the Fondazione TRG Teatro Ragazzi e Giovani as part of the Teen Summer School.

Summer School is the summer program curated by the Education Department, active since 2010, offering everyone the opportunity to experience art through weekly camps, workshops, and events that combine art, theater, dance, music, and new technologies.

11:00 am, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 6:00 pm Guided Tours in italian . Inserzioni and Collective Prize – first and second floor, Castello Building

Inserzioni is a program that invites artists to produce new works in dialogue with the rooms of the Castello. The artists involved in the first edition are: Guglielmo Castelli, Lydia Ourahmane, and Oscar Murillo. The guided tours also include the work of Adji Dieye, winner of the 2025 Collective Prize for young artists. Led by Artenautes from the Education Department, the tours are a valuable opportunity to learn about the many stories intertwined in the new works on display.

4:00 PM In the Name of Art: Special Art Weekend for Grandparents and Grandchildren – Third Floor, Castello Building

In keeping with the theme of the day, the Education Department is offering a special art weekend event dedicated to grandparents and grandchildren. The exhibition “The Enchanted Castle” will be an opportunity to immerse yourself in Paola Pivi’s Free Land Scape and experience the myriad forms of art, including works by Carla Accardi, Lucio Fontana, and Claes Oldenburg. An afternoon dedicated to sharing knowledge, enchantment, and beauty.


6:30 PM UNA SCUOLA AL CASTELLO DI RIVOLI  – A New Idea of ​​Education – Room 13, 1st floor, Castello building

UNA SCUOLA is a postgraduate artistic education project based at the Castello, developed within the CRRI, the Museum’s Research Center. Since 2024, participants have been working collectively to deconstruct their disciplines and “slow down production” in a spirit of open dialogue.

The project is now in its second edition. During the meeting, moderate by Marcella Beccaria, the initiative’s founders Cally Spooner and Lilou Vidal will explain their idea of ​​education and present the second edition, entitled “Starting Point for Critical Elaboration: Extending to NOTTURNO” (September 30–October 3, 2025 at Castello di Rivoli, October 6–9, 2025 in Turin and its surroundings).

6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Special Opening
For Contemporary Art Day, the Museum welcomes the public with extended hours, opening the first, second, and third floors of the Castello building until 9:00 PM, as part of its collaboration with C2C Festival.

9:00 PM – 12:30 AM C2C Festival / Sound System – Castello Atrium and Manica Lunga Outdoor Spaces

C2C Festival, recognized by the authoritative music magazine Pitchfork as “the one-plus-ultra festival of avant-garde eclecticism,” is the largest indoor music festival in Italy and is considered one of the most popular avant-pop music festivals in the world. In collaboration with the Castello, C2C Festival curates a sound system program for the outdoor spaces of the Savoy residence, which has been home to the Museum of Contemporary Art for 40 years. The event precedes the 23rd edition of the C2C Festival, which will take place in Turin from October 30 to November 2, 2025.
