Public Programme 2026

2026
Curated by Alberto Groja
The Public Programme 2026 unfolds as a body in constant motion, moving through and activating the marginal spaces of Castello di Rivoli. Through site-specific performances, sound interventions and shared research practices, the program explores the relationship between the body and the museum space. The architectural incompleteness of the building becomes a site of passage and experimentation, inviting a choreographic engagement with space and its ongoing re-imagining. Rather than a sequence of events, the program takes shape as a constellation of gatherings. A museum in motion that, through collaborations with the surrounding territory and together with artists, cultural practitioners, associations, activists, audiences, staff, and other members of the community, explores new imaginaries and forms of resistance. This takes shape through education, conversations, and shared communal spaces. Below, you’ll find a sample of what’s to come, but by design, the program will continue to evolve.
Cristina Caprioli and Ambra Pittoni, with Tongues in Angle and a Movie in Conversation, engage in a dialogue within the museum’s spaces, drawing on their respective lines of research and working practices. The dance-writing of TUNG, in its encounter with a (new) architectural set-up, and the working process of Tongue in Angle unfold in a dance in which dancing re-settles her features and performs a different condition, recognising a choreography that knows how to move without altering her position. As if made of iterative matter—unstable at her core, yet self-evident in each of her manifestations. Materiality. Activity. Contemplation. Politics. Choreography.
Gek Tessaro brings Il circo delle nuvole, a live drawing performance populated by curious characters who live above the clouds. The event, realised in collaboration with Abbonamento Musei, forms part of the project Scuola della Curiosità, curated by the Education Department.
Xing introduces XONG BOX LIVE, a sound performance by Michele Di Stefano, Surplace Radio, broadcast from an improvised, nomadic position, with a programme of new record releases and ethnomusical digressions, featuring guests Margherita Morgantin, Mette Edvardsen and Cesare Pietroiusti. Luca Trevisani performs Giungla da schermo / Foresta da tastiera, a sound performance based on the score-text published in the LP AMAZOOM.
Francesco Cavaliere explores the theatre of the museum with Messages on Paper Airplanes, a concert for voices and celesta. The sound performance emerges from an epistolary correspondence with people and places both nearby and at the margins. Letters sent from and received at the Castle become compositional and textual material for a score for voices and celesta.
On the occasion of the Salone Internazionale del Libro OFF, phonetics, born from the encounter between Axis Axis and Paint It Black, presents an art publishing festival: a curatorial platform fostering dialogue between editorial practice, theoretical research and contemporary artistic practices. The festival approaches the book not only as a publishing object, but as a performative and sculptural medium – a field of tension between materiality, language, image and gesture.
The program also includes the presentation of the publication Archiving the Ungovernable, dedicated to the story of MACAO, a political space and autonomous platform for artistic production and experimentation with self-managed practices. The meeting, focused on the chapter on the commons, unfolds as a panel bringing together associations, social centres, artists and scholars engaged with the idea of culture as a common good. It is accompanied by practices of care and performative actions that make the MACAO archive that can be experienced directly. The evening concludes with Art and Repression, an immersive and collective sound performance against censorship and in support of freedom of expression. The collaboration with C2C Festival, one of the most significant avant-pop music festivals, continues, bringing international artists to sonically inhabit the spaces of the museum.
