Michele Marelli and the Pars Quartet perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in A major, K. 581.
The four movements are interpolated with contemporary pieces for solo clarinet by Helmut Lachenmann, György Kurtág, and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Each intervention, in different ways, disrupts the classical linearity, opening up new dimensions of sound and perception, and foregrounding the physicality, gestures, and listening of the instrument.
