Francesco Manacorda appointed new Director of Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea
The Board of Directors of Castello di Rivoli announces the appointment of Francesco Manacorda as Director of Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea.
The new Director will take up the role starting from 1 January 2024.
Francesco Manacorda has been Artistic Director of V-A-C Foundation (2017–22); Artistic Director of Tate Liverpool (2012–17), Director of Artissima (2010-12) and Curator at Barbican Art Gallery (2007-09). From 2006 to 2011 he was Visiting Lecturer in the Curating Contemporary Art department at the Royal College of Art, London. He has co-curated the 2016 Liverpool Biennial and in 2018 the 11th Taipei Biennial.
Francesco Manacorda was chosen at the end of a public selection process by a Judging Committee chaired by Francesca Lavazza, President of Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, and composed of Richard Armstrong, who was Director of The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation from 2008 until July 2023; Andrea Ruben Levi, collector, Friend Benefactor of Castello di Rivoli, member of the Board of Trustees of the New Museum in New York; Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, collector, President of the foundation of the same name, President of Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT; Sir Nicholas Serota, President of Arts Council England, former Director of Tate.
Francesco Manacorda succeeds as Director to Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Director of the Museum in 2009 and since 1 January 2016, who retires on December 31, 2023.
