Gallerie d’Italia, Turin, hosts a program of talks by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, Marcella Beccaria, and Marianna Vecellio. Accompanying the public on a journey into art, the program proposes a new form of “lunch break” to discover contemporary art, enjoy a light lunch by Costardi Bros, and visit the exhibitions at Gallerie d’Italia, Turin.

The talk focuses on digital art, from the technological works of the 1960s (the “media art”) to the recent immersive digital works and NFTs.

The talk presents Arte povera più azioni povere, an experimental exhibition in Amalfi in 1968, which presented for the first time works, actions and performances by artists changing the history of contemporary art.

Marianna Vecellio, Post Human 1992. The society of simulacra

The talk presents Post Human and works by postmodern artists featured in this exhibition, such as Jeff Koons, Matthew Barney, and Cindy Sherman. They expresses the sense of a society where the human is replaced in the collective imagination by consumer goods.

Marianna Vecellio, Ecology and contemporary art

The Lunch Talk narrates the change of perspective in art dictated by the climate crisis by examining new alliances between life forms through the ecological practices of artists such as Joseph Beuys, Giuseppe Penone, Claire Pentecost, Michael Rakowitz, Rossella Biscotti and Tabita Rezaire.

Marcella Beccaria, Olafur Eliasson

The Lunch Talk examines the artistic path of Olafur Eliasson, one of the greatest protagonists of art today, deepening his visionary installations currently exhibited at Castello di Rivoli. Defined by him as “machines to see oneself to see”, Eliasson’s works can make us understand the nature and reality that surround us in unexpected ways.
