XXII Giornata del Contemporaneo
10.10.2026 from 10:30 to 16:00

Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea is taking part in the 22nd Contemporary Art Day, a major event promoted by AMACI – the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, with the support of the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture and in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The theme of the 2026 edition is “Geographies of the Contemporary”, an exploration of the present as a space in constant transformation, in which geographies emerge as dynamic constructs, subject to ongoing processes of redefinition, while places become spaces of interaction, shaped by multiple forces that redefine their boundaries and meanings.
Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art will offer free admission to the public, alongside a renewed display of its collection and major exhibition projects.

Masters of Design. Architecture in Turin between Memory and Innovation: Andrea Bruno
Conference and guided tour
Organised by Fondazione per l’architettura di Torino
In collaboration with CRRI – Castello di Rivoli Research Institute
Theatre, Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea
Conference: 10.30 am–12.30 pm, followed by a guided tour
For Contemporary Art Day, CRRI – Castello di Rivoli Research Institute is collaborating with Fondazione per l’architettura di Torino, hosting a conference dedicated to Andrea Bruno, the architect responsible for the restoration of the Castello and its conversion into a Museum of Contemporary Art.
The conference is part of the cultural programme “Masters of Design. Architecture in Turin between Memory and Innovation”, an initiative devoted to a critical reassessment of key figures in Turin’s architecture from the twentieth century to the present day. The programme aims to bring the memory of architectural practice into dialogue with contemporary debate, highlighting professional archives, built works and first-hand accounts through a format combining public conferences and guided tours.
Following meetings dedicated to Elio Luzi, Ada Bursi and Pietro Derossi, the series concludes with an event at Castello di Rivoli devoted to Andrea Bruno.
Andrea Bruno
One of Italy’s most significant architects, Andrea Bruno (Turin, 1931–2025) helped redefine the role of the architect as a restorer, interpreting heritage through a critical approach and developing a design practice based on dialogue between history and the contemporary world. His international career bears witness to an approach grounded in historical knowledge, reversibility and cultural responsibility.
His most important projects include the transformation of Castello di Rivoli into a Museum of Contemporary Art, the restoration of the Brigittines Church in Brussels and his interventions at the Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan.
The conference
The conference will focus on restoration, museography and the international dimension of architectural practice. Through a dialogue between scholars, collaborators and members of Bruno’s architectural practice, it will explore the relationship between design, time and materials, while also addressing the archive as a living, active form of heritage.

OCCULTA. The Body of the Archive
Performative lecture based on the Chiara Fumai Archive
Organised by OCCULTA – Observatory for the Collective Care of Techno-Archival Languages
In collaboration with CRRI – Castello di Rivoli Research Institute
Theatre, Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea
2 pm–4 pm
OCCULTA is a science outreach project funded by the Dipartimento degli Studi Umanistici at the University of Turin, dedicated to the study of heritage-making processes as practices for the creation of the commons.
The project takes the Chiara Fumai Archive as its starting point. Preserved at CRRI, the archive is dedicated to safeguarding and transmitting the artistic legacy of Chiara Fumai (Rome, 1978 – Bari, 2017).
CRRI is a partner in the initiative, which also involves the Turin-based association Mucho Mas!.
OCCULTA was conceived and is coordinated by Cristina Voto, lecturer and researcher at the Dipartimento degli Studi Umanistici of the University of Turin, together with Francesca Pegan, researcher at the Chiara Fumai Archive.
Through participatory sessions and activities open to the public, OCCULTA offers a programme of research and mediation centred on materials from the Fumai Archive. These materials provide a starting point for exploring how an artist’s legacy is constructed, preserved and made accessible to the community.
The conference
The public event, presented in a touch-and-speech format, will feature contributions from the project’s Scientific Committee, comprising lecturers Massimo Bonifazio, Eleonora Chiais, Daniela Fargione and Emilia Perassi, together with Guido Costa.
Their contributions will explore the artist’s practice through its multiple fields of research. Guido Costa, the artist’s long-standing gallerist, will share with the audience a gift he received from Chiara Fumai.
