Il Castello Incantato is not only a curatorial project but also educational. It is conceived and developed together with non-adults involved in the process of engaging with contemporary art.
The project identifies younger visitors as the ideal visitors of the museum of the present and the future. Il Castello Incantato is inspired by the idea of the agorà, the main public square in the cities of ancient Greece, promoting the idea of the museum as a place for encounter and exchange, a pedagogical and experiential training ground, an inclusive space, and a school of citizenship.
For the new 2026 edition, Il Castello Incantato presents an exhibition itinerary focusing on important artists, whose works have made a fundamental contribution to the history of the collection and exhibitions at Castello di Rivoli. The project presents works by John Baldessari,
William Kentridge, Otobong Nkanga, and Paola Pivi. Special guests of the 2026 edition are Peter Friedl with No prey, no pay, a large-scale installation inspired by pirates and their forgotten stories, and Rivane Neuenschwander with dream.lab. Neuenschwander’s project draws inspiration from the creatures and monsters that inhabit children’s dreams. This new version of the work produced by the Museum is also inspired by drawings made by local children, who took part in workshops and activities organized by the Education Department at the artist’s suggestion.
