“I don’t represent anything, I paint” is the artist’s significant comment about his work.
Giorgio Griffa (Turin, Italy, 1936) has distinguished himself since the late 1960s with a radical pictorial language, reduced to its essential components: canvas, color, and line. On the occasion of the artist’s 90th birthday, Castello di Rivoli is dedicating a homage to Griffa, presenting a display with works spanning from the 1970s to the present, testifying to his long, prolific, and uninterrupted artistic research. At the initiative of the CRRI Castello di Rivoli Research Center, the selection will also feature documentary materials, as well as some of his painting tools from the artist’s studio.
Giorgio Griffa: 90 is developed thanks to the collaboration with the Giorgio Griffa Foundation, Turin.
