From 29 May 2015 to 02 August 2015
curated by Massimo Melotti
The relationship between video and new media in art is the topic of the conference and video event Videocontaminazioni. Fiction / Reality that will be held at the Castello di Rivoli.
Our age is increasingly distinguished by the intermingling of reality and fiction: the latest communication technologies have influenced the ways we perceive everyday reality. This has given life to new scenarios, which allow artists to explore borderlines, where different means of expression and emerging, alternative cultures intertwine.
The event Videocontaminazioni. Fiction / Reality, curated by Massimo Melotti, presents artist videos focusing on the “contamination” of visual arts, videos, and new technologies, but also varying cultures: Vuk Ćosić, considered the “father” of net.art and an internationally renowned theorist; Massimiliano and Gianluca De Serio with their works poised between visual arts and cinema; Coniglioviola with their augmented reality work; Diego Scroppo with videos from rave and pop culture.
This event will be presented by a conference held in collaboration with Storycode, Torino, on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 10:00 to 13:30 in the Sala Polivalente.
Speakers: Vuk Ćosić, new media artist and theorist; Simone Arcagni, Associate Professor at the Università di Palermo, cinema and media critic; Giulio Lughi and Alessandra Russo Suppini, authors of Creatività Digitale, Franco Angeli Editore, Milan; the event curator Massimo Melotti; the artists Coniglioviola, Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio, Diego Scroppo.
