Paola Pivi. A project for the castello

21 april 2000 - 18 june 2000

Curated by Marcella Beccaria

For Paola Pivi (Milan, 1971) the work of art is an expression of a form of reality liberated to its greatest expressive potential. Each piece by the artist, who always works with different materials, represents a different form of the utopia of excess. The work presented here marks an important evolution in her development, extending in a new expressive form some of the ideas that define her research. Senza titolo (Untitled), 1999, is a painting made from thousands of artificial pearls, conceived as a concentration in space of specific elements. The work develops the concept of mass and power, uniting them with the idea of luxury, understood as a slow unfolding of energy. The painting is presented as a jewel enlarged to macroscopic proportions.
